Product Info

Hooker Competition Headers are made from durable 16-gauge steel and have 5/16 in. thick flanges that are heavy enough to maintain header integrity, yet pliable enough to seal each exhaust port. Tubing is mandrel-bent to maintain metal strength and provide consistent tube diameter at radii to increase performance. Breaking in an engine with ceramic coated headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Ceramic coated headers require several heat cycles to fully cure before they will withstand extreme heat. Hooker recommends using cast iron exhaust manifolds or old headers to break in new engines to avoid coating damage. The use of header wraps can cause the header tubes to crack or rust due to excessive heat and moisture build-upld-up. Hooker does not recommend the use of header wraps as this will void the warranty. Will not fit column mounted standard or floor mounted automatics or Cutlass Supreme models.

In 1962, future SEMA Hall of Famer Gary Hooker designed and manufactured a one of a kind header that boosted the performance of his new Chevrolet. Upon placing it on other cars, he found that the headers were responsible for increasing the car's speed and power. This became the foundation for Hooker Headers and the company was established in South Ontario, California.

The cutting-edge headers became the toast of the racing world and the company became more legendary for providing the headers of nearly all National Hot Rod Association champions. Using this as a platform, Hooker Headers grew from a $100K company in 1966 to a $3 million giant in 1969. This growth was fueled by the company's pursuit of innovation in the header market. Some of their breakthroughs include the development of the straight-thru glass pack mufflers, a new thermal barrier ceramic coating, the Aerochamber muffler, engine swap headers, and the use of stylish black ceramic coating. Today, Hooker is one of the most recognized brands in the world of racing and performance aftermarket.
