How to Install Hidden Hitch

When you install a Hidden Hitch on your truck or SUV, in most cases it's a simple bolt on mounting. Drilling or cutting might be required on some applications, depending on your particular vehicle.

The installation is a quick and intuitive process, because each Hidden Hitch trailer hitch, fifth wheel hitch or ball mount comes with easy-to-follow instructions showing you how to assemble and attach your product properly. Be sure to thoroughly read and follow your product's manual before installing your new hitch on your vehicle.

  • Thanks to their custom-made design, all towing products and accessories from Hidden Hitch bolt right onto your vehicle's existing bolting locations.
  • In most cases, you install your new hitch by aligning its holes to the attachment points on your vehicle's end panel, and then tighten all the hardware.

Most Hidden Hitch trailer hitches are installed in a few simple steps:

  • Step 1: Block your wheels and lift your vehicle to make enough clearance for installing your new Hidden Hitch safely.
  • Step 2: Read the manufacturer's instructions which came packaged with your product. Do not fasten the bolts yet.
  • Step 3: Check if your truck or SUV has pre-drilled holes for hitch mounts on its end panel. Most vehicles do have these holes, but if yours doesn't, you'll have to drill them. Just align the assembled hitch to the panel and use the hitch's holes as a template. When drilling, be sure not to drill holes that are wider than the bolts.
  • Step 4: Mount the Hidden Hitch to the end panel of your ride and bolt it into place. The entire assembly should be securely tightened.

What should you know about Hidden Hitch?

You should check your hitch frequently to make sure all of the fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. If you remove the hitch, make sure to plug all holes in your trunk pan or other body panels in order to avoid water and exhaust fumes from entering through the holes. Inspect your trailer hitch or ball regularly for damage. Replace them as soon as possible if you find any structural damage. Always consult your vehicle's owner's manual for actual weight capacities.
