This is because under the 12-bolt arrangement, the clamping load is doubled. In fact, the BD Diesel Hi5 Flex Plate is capable of handling torques of up to 3,500 lb-ft. With the BD Diesel Hi5 Flex Plate, you don't have to worry about the possibility of failure of the bolts under high torque applications. This tough part made of forged billet also fits when paired with other OEM or aftermarket torque converters, and you can also pair it with standard 6-bolt torque converters using just 6 bolts. The BD Diesel Hi5 Flex Plate is made using twice the material of the stock flex plate, and is coated with black oxide to prevent corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement. This makes for a much more durable flex plate.
