The History of Kooks Headers and Exhaust

Posted: July 12, 2024

It was in 1962 that Kooks Headers and Exhaust began its journey in becoming a household name for racing enthusiasts all over the globe. Since building his very first headers for the family race car, George Kryssing Sr., otherwise known as Papa Kook, has been setting the bar high when it comes to high-end racing components. Papa Kook has always been very passionate about the racing industry. He began competing with a 1950 Ford Crestline during his teenage years but was unsatisfied with its limited performance. This sparked a fire in him as he would tirelessly study and modify the blueprint of the engine himself. His hard work would pay off as he would dominate race after race in his home track, culminating in a win record of more than 200 wins.

After consistent exceptional race performances, the one-time milkman turned home mechanic and race car driver was getting calls from other racers who would ask him to help them build their own custom set of headers. As years passed, his business of producing headers and exhaust systems continuously grew and improved. Relocating from Bayshore, New York, in 2009, the company's headquarters is currently in Statesville, North Carolina. This is where the most knowledgeable engineers integrate the latest in automotive technology to generate components with custom specifications. Whether it's for a race car in the drag strip, a high-end motorcycle, or even an offshore boat, Kooks guarantees a precise custom fit.

With a company philosophy that centers on producing the most resilient and race-efficient designs, there is no doubt that Kooks will remain the standard bearer for performance-boosting exhaust components for a long time.

With proven and advanced techniques such as mandrel bent tubing, welding, forming, and notching being incorporated, Kooks certifies exhaust parts that last the lifetime of your vehicle. Adding to that, the company has their own line of racing mufflers and tips. Furthermore, they even do private-label work for different exhaust or tube bending needs. For the most powerful headers and exhaust components that will leave the opposition eating your dust, there is not a brand that can hold a candle to the awesome designs of Kooks.
