Product Info

Latitude Alpin LA2 Tires are designed to provide the modern CUVs and SUVs with safety and mobility during the winter seasons. The MaxTouch Construction provides very low rolling resistance for enhanced fuel efficiency and it maximizes rubber contact with the road, hence uniformly distributing the forces of breaking, acceleration and cornering. The sunflower oil- enriched compound combine with full silica based rubber (Helio Compound 3G) is used to make a directional tread design that joins the shoulder blocks with the independent intermediate and the continuous center rib, to increase stability on dry roads, reduce hydroplaning effects on wet, and increase traction on slush, ice, or snow.

Michelin 3D Stabiligrip technology produces immense traction due to the variable geometry sipes, adding more rigidity for better braking and handling in the winter. The Comfort Control Technology on the tires uses computer enhanced design and detailed manufacturing to lower road noise and vibrations, thus increases driving comfort. As Standard the Michelin Latitude Alpin LA2 Tires come with a limited warranty. This covers defects in materials and workmanship for first 6 years from date of purchase or for the life span of the original usable tread, whichever occurs first. The Latitude Alpin LA2 Tires have an additional 25,000 mile limited warranty for tread wear and mileage (for H, V speed rating).

Michelin was founded on May 28, 1889, by French brothers ?douard Michelin and Andr? Michelin in Clermont Ferrand, France. In 1891 Michelin finally took out its first patent for removable pneumatic tires. This tire was used to win the first ever long-distance cycle race by Charles Torrent.

The year 1934 saw the creation and introduction of what is now known to be the run-flat tire, a tire that would run on special foam linings if punctured. In 1946 a key innovation in tire history was developed and patented by Michelin with the radial tires. In the process assuring Michelin a spot as one of the world's leading tire manufacturers. The radial tire was initially known as the "X" tire and was developed with the Citro?n Traction Avant and Citro?n 2CV in mind. Its superiority in handling and better fuel economy is what helped in the spreading of this highly innovative tire throughout Europe and Asia.

It was in 1968 that Michelin first opened its North American sales office. Michelin saw the rapid growth of its market, by the year 1989 Michelin has gained 10% of OEM Tires purchased by American automobile manufacturers. Michelin also received a contract for the 1970 Continental Mark III, the first American car fitted with radial tires. This gave Michelin an early tire win over North American rivals and proved that Michelin is really a better way to move forward.

In 1989 Michelin acquired two giant rubber companies which have merged together, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal. This purchase included the Norwood, North Carolina manufacturing plant which provided tires to the U.S. Space Shuttle Program, putting Michelin in the helm of the "race to space" in terms of tires. Michelin also controls Taurus tires in Hungary with 90% of its shares and Kormoran, a Polish brand.

Michelin is now the largest tire manufacturer and for over 125 years Michelin has dedicated itself to enhancing the mobility of its clients by providing the most suitable tires to its clients and by providing digital services, maps and guides making the trips and travel a unique and pleasant experience. From 1889 to further on into the future you can count on Michelin to give you the ride of your life because the more they progress the better you advance. Because they know that so much is riding on your tires.

The warranty coverage period of the tire is six years from the date of purchase or the life of the "usable tread", whichever is defined as the original tread worn down to the level of the tread wear indicators, wich is 2/32nds of an inch (1.6mm) of tread remaining, whichever occurs first. The date of purchase is documented on a new vehicle registration or tire sales invoice. If no proof of purchase is available, the date of manufacture, as molded on the sidewall, will be used. Uneven wear is defined as a tread groove difference of 2/32nds of an inch or more on the same tire.
