Starting off as a metal window fitting manufacturer in 1873, Bilstein became involved in the automotive accessories industry in 1928, with Hans Bilstein's newfound knowledge from America. Since then, Bilstein started with mass-produced chrome-plated bumpers, and as a year passed, began offering car jacks. But not just any car jack, as Bilstein pushed out the first usable side car jack. Come 1954, and Bilstein began an effort to revolutionize the suspension system of an automobile. With ample resources poured into research and development, Bilstein succeeded, outfitting the standard production Mercedes-Bens with the first monotube gas pressure shock. .
Moving forward, Bilstein has tapped into the enthusiast and performance market as well, approaching the motorsports niche with confidence and results. Bilstein has offerings in the damping and suspension departments, like shocks, mono-tubes, and dual-tube shock absorbers, air suspension systems, and adjustable shock absorbers. With an impressive track record and catalog to boot, Bilstein has been known throughout the world, with demand for their suspension solutions only growing to date.Description
