The Aluminum Hawse Fairleads are ideal for winches that use synthetic ropes instead of steel cables. The Aluminum Hawse fairleads comprise a single aluminum structure through which the rope slides. There is friction instead of sliding, and that is why they are only useful for synthetic ropes. If steel cables pulling tons of weight were to rub against the aluminum fairleads, it would lead to the fairleads becoming convoluted and bent out of shape. And this could lead to accidents.

On the other hand, Rolling fairleads are more versatile. They are not a one-piece structure like the Aluminum Hawse fairleads. Instead, they consist of rollers that allow the cable to slide through rather than rub through. And this increases mobility and reduces the wear on both the fairlead and the cable.
