MSD 7990 - Toggle Switches
With the sprint car crank trigger system, the timing is first set at the magneto to ensure correct rotor phasing. Then, the pickups are switched and the timing is checked and adjusted again at the crank trigger pickup. This switch allows you to start the car and toggle between pickups, so the engine only needs to be started once to get the timing dialed in. Also, by setting the generator slightly retarded over the crank trigger, the driver could switch pickups and utilize two timing settings.
