The history of Toyota Celica began 45 years ago when famous Japanese automakers, Toyota introduced a new line of sport compact cars that were named "Celica".(from the Latin word coelica which means "heavenly" or "celestial"). Since its birth, the Toyota Celica was manufactured in seven generations. The first-generation (1970–1977) was built on the A20/35 platform and featured FR layout. Two body styles were available: 3-door liftback and 2-door hardtop. The first-generation came with a variety of engine options and three transmission types – 4-speed W40 manual, 5-speed W50 manual, and 3-speed A40 automatic transmission. In 1972, a new version, called "GTV" was released. The GTV model was provided with a less lavish interior but featured a more stable suspension. This ensured superior handling.

The second generation (1977–1981) came with a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, and a 98 in. wheelbase. This generation was offered in both Coupe and Liftback forms. The second generation included two series – Series A and Series B with appearance being the only difference between them. The third generation started in 1981. It was built on the A60 platform and featured a new styling. There were again a lot of engine options but only two types of transmissions were available – 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual transmission.

The fourth-generation (1985–1989) was based on the T160 platform and came with a longer wheelbase. This generation featured a front-wheel drive, a rounded body, and a new 2.0 L four-cylinder engines. The fifth-generation was released in 1989. It was built on the T180 platform and was provided with 5 engine options. The vehicles from this period were equipped with an improved cooling system as well as enhanced wheels and tires.

The sixth-generation (1993–1999) came with a slightly longer wheelbase and more safety features like new airbags and anti-lock brakes. CFC-free air conditioning was also available in many models. The seventh-generation was launched in 1999. It was built on the T230 platform and featured an FF layout. This final-generation was provided with a 3-door lift-back body style and a longer wheelbase. The Celica was also equipped with a 1.8 L I4 engine and a 4-speed automatic, 5-speed manual or 6-speed manual transmission.

Although it featured great fuel economy, the Toyota Celica was discontinued in 2006. If you're looking to make a statement on the road, nothing beats integrating Toyota Celica Accessories and Parts.
